Junior Cycle Tour

JUNIOR CYCLING TOUR
The Te Awamutu Sports Cycling Club is hosting the
GiB 2 Day Te Awamutu Junior Cycling tour on the weekend of the
29th and 30th of April.
Hundreds of junior cyclists will be based at Korakonui School as they race surrounding circuits hoping to `catch the eye’ of the Cycling NZ selectors.
 
The following circuits will be used:
Saturday 29 April
- Road Race 10am—1.15pm Korakonui School – Lethbridge Rd – Bayley Rd – Seafund Rd – Owairaka Valley Rd – Bayley Rd, and on the last lap return to Korakonui School. Individual Time Trial 10.10am - 1pm Riders will leave at 30 sec intervals from the school with a `turn around’ point approximately 4.5km from school, on Wharepuhunga Road before heading back to the school. Road Race 1.30pm - 4pm Korakonui School—Wharepuhunga Rd, Hingaia Rd or Bayley Rd— Lethbridge Rd and back to school.
 
 
Sunday 30 April - Individual time trial 8.30am - 10am Riders will leave at 30 sec intervals from the school with a `turn around’ point approximately 4.5km from school, on Wharepuhunga Rd before heading back to the school. 10.15am - 1pm Korakonui School – Lethbridge Rd – Bayley Rd – Seafund Rd – Owairaka Valley Rd – Bayley Rd, and on the last lap return to Korakonui School. 11am - 3pm Wharepuhunga Rd, Ngaroma Rd, Wairehi Rd, Waipapa Rd, Aotearoa Rd, Wharepapa South Rd, Seafund Rd, Bayley Rd. The roads will be open at all times and there will be substantial signage warning of the event in progress. Each race will have a `lead car’ to warn oncoming traffic. Intersections will be marshalled. There may be some traffic delays, but these will be relatively minor and the organisers would appreciate your awareness of cyclists leading up to and during the tour, and that motorists and residents take care during this time.
