The countdown is on for the 2023 Mid-Term Trustee Election

It’s Board Elections time!

There are two positions becoming available at the Midterm Elections for the Korakonui School Board.  So, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be on a School Board and want to help make decisions that govern and shape our school, then now is the time.  Our current board is progressive, motivated and passionate about doing the best for our children and school.

There’s plenty of training available and great support from within the team, to help build governance understanding. Election information will be coming out soon. Feel free to ask questions; either ring the school or email me at jude@korakonui.school.nz

You can either nominate yourself, or someone else can do it for you. We look forward to receiving your nominations!

Nomination forms will be posted out to all parents in the next week - closing day for nominations to be received, is 12noon Wednesday 11th October.

Here at Korakonui School, our Board is made up of 5 Parent Elected Trustees 
for a 3 year term - along with our Principal Tom Cochrane, and a staff representative Lisa Leather. Korakonui School has opted for a 'staggered election' process, where 2 trustee positions are elected in this 'Mid-Term Election' - then in 18 months time, 3 trustees are elected in the 'Triennial Election'. 
We have 8 board meetings during the school year - 2 meetings per term.

Our 2023 election timeline is as follows:
Friday 22 September - Call for nominations, nomination forms posted
Wednesday 11 October - Nominations close 12 noon
Wednesday 18 October - Voting Forms posted out
Wednesday 15 November Election Day - Voting Closes 4pm
Tuesday 21 November - Count Votes
Wednesday 22 November - New Board takes office

Students are required to wear a brimmed hat for school from the first day of Term 4. Caps are no longer accepted.

Hats are available for purchase at the school office for $10 and can be charged to your school account.

No hat equals spending your break time under the sun shelter.

Thank you to our Board of Trustees for subsidising our school green wide brimmed hats for our students.

Term 1 - Thursday 2 February (Yr 7 & 8 students only) 

               Friday 3 February (All Students) - Thursday 6 April (10 weeks)

Term 2 - Monday 24 April  -  Friday 30 June (10 weeks)

Term 3 - Monday 17 July  -  Friday 22 September (10 weeks)

Term 4 - Monday 9 October  -  Friday 15 December  (10 weeks)
